What’s your lockdown strategy been? May we recommend you turn your house/apartment into a decent hotel. The service may be variable, but the atmosphere is just how you like it and the music is loud. Oh, and the bar is always open…more kitchen disco classics from Alex Macnutt.

Lockdown. Pain in the arse innit? I did have plans to have a walk-up patio bar over the Christmas holidays, but Government policy put paid to that once London was ‘elevated’ to Tier 4 (=locked-the-fuck-down-again). Oh well. It’s a shame, since I wanted to give local friends and neighbours the chance to enjoy a slice of lockdown living the way I have - by basically turning my kitchen garden patio into a reasonably upmarket hotel bar.

It’s great, honestly. Sure, the service can be a little patchy - most of the facilities are a sort of ‘help yourself’ policy (so I guess it’s more AirBnB than fully serviced). There are a few okay workspaces for laptop life and usually, a well stocked cafe with plenty of breakfast and lunch options. Sometimes there is an actual menu.

But the best bit really, is the music. It can get pretty loud but none of the other ‘residents’ complain too much. The bar too, is fabulous. It opens at 6 PM (usually, though in the holidays it has been known to open earlier). Cocktails on hand, mix yourself - but with ample recipes and a well-stocked bar. For cocktail hour, it’s two for the price of one - and the first one was pretty good value already.

All you need really, is the music. Well, here you go then - weather it’s a cocktail hour wind-down, a pre-party good mood atmosphere or a full-blown kitchen disco: the Boutique Hotel Bar has all the right sounds for you, handpicked by music maestro and very cool bar owner Alex Macnutt. He’s had more compilation album hits than most and knows his stuff like a good barman at the Connaught Bar knows cocktails. Do you know the Connaught Bar? It was voted the world’s best bar 2020 (hurray for The Connaught and for London!) but to be honest, when it comes to 2020 let’s face it, the best bar has been your gaff. So spruce it up a bit with the perfect soundtrack. Featuring some the coolest dance artists working today and compiled by a global expert - you can be as cool as the coolest bar in the world. But do visit The Connaught soon…see you there.
